As you go through eating disorder recovery — whether it’s been years or it’s just the start of your healing journey — we want you to feel our unwavering confidence in you. You are worthy of the freedom that comes with recovery! Your body is worthy of kindness and appreciation.

It’s important to nourish your mind with things that uplift you, rather than pull you down. To inspire you and help renew this sense of hope and commitment to recovery, here are 20 affirmations to write down, stick on your mirror, and say to yourself daily.

No day is too busy to not take time for yourself. You deserve to prioritize self-care on a daily basis.

You are learning who you really are. Take time to sit in that and think about what you’ve learned so far.

The more you tell yourself this, the more you’ll start to believe it!  Try saying it to yourself in the mirror (cheesy, we know, but it really helps!)

Don’t be discouraged when changes take time, especially in eating disorder recovery. You’re making progress with each step.  It is all part of the process.

Numbers are just numbers. They’re not who you are and they’re not what makes you beautiful and valuable. Numbers don’t define you.

Focus on what’s right for you, not on what others expect of you.

Take some time to appreciate what your body makes possible. It allows you to run and jump and walk, hug a friend, breathe in delicious smells, scream, sing, and laugh.

You have the freedom, power, and space to find what you desire and go after it.

Taking this healing journey requires so much courage. Look at how much strength it took to get here! We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see how far that courage takes you.

You aren't meant to be anywhere else right now except for where you are. Focus on this and what your journey is right now, because that’s what will take you where you want to be.

Get up and go look in the mirror. Repeat this to yourself. You are enough.

 Overcoming fear and anxiety around food takes time and dedication to the recovery journey. There may be setbacks along the way, but these are not failures, just a part of the process. Use these affirmations to keep yourself inspired and encouraged with each new day!

Write them on your mirror with a dry erase marker, keep them in a notebook for when you need encouragement, or pick your favorite one to make your phone wallpaper.
