Start working with nourishrX

Maybe someone recommended you look into working with a registered dietitian, but you’re not quite sure what that would mean.

You may be feeling “off” when it comes to food, and feel like you could be doing a better job meeting your needs. But you’re confused about what to eat or what not to eat, since everyone seems to have a different opinion. You worry about how your eating will affect your health, but know that rigid rules and restrictions around food don’t feel that healthy either.

Maybe you’re struggling with disordered eating or an eating disorder and want to work with a nutritionist who understands what you’re going through and won’t ask you to track your calories or measure another ounce of food.

At NourishRX, we want to see you thrive.

Nutrition counseling with NourishRX provides personalized nutrition therapy and treatment tailored to your own unique goals and needs. NourishRX dietitians combine compassionate and science-based education with supportive therapeutic support around eating behaviors to help you become fully nourished.

NourishRX Nutrition Counseling involves a thorough initial assessment including your primary concerns, medical diagnoses, current dietary intake, food aversions, lab values, dieting history, relationship with exercise, body image and more. Together, you and your registered dietitian will create a personalized roadmap for healing and growth rooted in your goals and values.

What is Nutrition Counseling?

Good question! It has a lot to do with education and expertise. Just like a square is also a rectangle, but not all rectangles are squares, a dietitian is a nutritionist but not all nutritionists can call themselves dietitians. To put it easily, anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. (We’d hope they’d at least have some education before doing so, but there’s no legal requirement for this). On the other hand, Registered Dietitians are required to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nutrition science, complete a 1200 hour supervised practice internship, pass a registration exam, and maintain their credential with continuing education every 2-5 years. In fact, by the year 2024, dietitians will need to have a master’s degree as well as a bachelor’s degree to sit for the registration exam.

While some dietitians prefer to call themselves nutritionists, you can identify qualified dietitians by looking out for the letters RD after their name. Only Registered Dietitians can legally use this credential.

Virtual Nutrition Counseling is Convenient

These days, we know how hard it can be to add anything to your already busy schedule. Maybe you’re concerned about social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, or have difficulty leaving your home or office for other reasons. Perhaps it’s hard to find a dietitian you connect with within driving distance.

We are proud to offer virtual nutrition services to support you in your home, your office, your car, or wherever is most convenient for you. Our dietitians are experts in nutrition care for eating disorder treatment, intuitive eating, and are able to provide personalized nutrition guidance for any nutrition-related concern that arises.

At NourishRX, we understand that your privacy is a top priority. We use HIPAA compliant platforms including secure telehealth video conferencing. Staying in touch with your nutritionist at NourishRX is easy. You’re easily able to message your provider and access files, appointment and billing information between sessions using our secure online client portal.
