Hello!

Returning to the NourishRX Office

Eating Disorders

May 26, 2022

After just over two years, the NourishRX team is finally returning to the office in Salem, Massachusetts!!  That’s right - we get to see you face-to-face.  Don’t worry - we do still offer telehealth services, but for those who are in or around the Salem area, we would love to have you come in to our office for your appointment.

There’s something special about being in our office.  Not only is the space cozy and cute, but it allows us to connect with you on a deeper level.  In addition to that, being in the office makes it easier to receive educational materials and to review them with your dietitian right then and there, rather than receiving an email afterwards.

There is an intangible advantage to being able to sit on the couch across from your dietitian.  Before returning to the NourishRX office, especially for those who have never visited it before, we want to share some things to expect.

Top 6 Eating Disorder Treatment Centers

What to Expect When Returning to the NourishRX Office

1. Arrive early

We know - this one’s basic.  But hey - it’s been a long time since we have been able to see providers in person, so we’re here to remind you.  When coming into downtown Salem, be sure to allow time for traffic, parking, and walking to our office.  We recommend allowing about 10-15 minutes to find parking and to walk over.

Worst comes to worst - you’re too early and you get the chance to explore some of our favorite cafes and coffee shops in the area (see number 5).

2. Get Cozy and Comfortable

5 Myths in Eating Disorder Recovery

We’ve done our best to make our office feel like a home away from home.  With comfy couches and big windows for the sun to shine through, we hope it feels like walking into a friend’s living room.  To maximize your comfort level, we recommend wearing clothes that you feel comfortable in.  We won’t bat an eye if you wear pajama pants!  If you want to bring a blanket or fuzzy socks for maximum comfort, we’re all about it.

3. Masks

While masks are not currently required in Salem, we want you to feel as safe as possible when coming to our office.  If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, please let your dietitian know, and we will always have one on hand.

4. No Scales in Sight

Unlike a doctors’ office, you will not be weighed at our office and your vitals will not be taken (unless otherwise discussed with your dietitian).  So, no need to fear the dreaded weight conversation.

In fact, we sometimes do just the opposite.  If you would like to get your scale out of the house or stop weighing yourself, you can bring us your scale to hold on to!

5. Visit a local spot before or after your appointment

Derby Street, in Salem, Massachusetts

With our office being in the heart of downtown Salem, we are right next door to some pretty fabulous cafes and restaurants.  Don’t worry - our team has tried them all, so we have lots of recommendations for you to try before or after your appointment.

  1. Front Street Coffeehouse - coffee, sandwiches, soups, salads, baked goods
  2. Gulu-Gulu Cafe - Coffee, salads, soups, crepes, waffles
  3. Life Alive Cafe - Bowls, wraps, smoothies
  4. Brew Box - Coffee, pastries
  5. Flying Saucer Pizza Co - Pizza
  6. Kushco Bistro - Sandwiches, soups,
  7. Odd Meter Coffee Co - Coffee, pastries

If you can’t already tell, we’re pretty excited to be returning to the NourishRX office and to see our clients face-to-face again!  We know it may take a bit of getting used to, but as we said, we think there’s something special about in-person treatment.

Before your appointment, you can expect that our office manager will give you all the information that you need re: directions, parking, building codes, how to check in - all that good stuff.  All you need to do is schedule your 1-1 nutrition appointment with one of our dietitians!
